Hey Everyone, Kevin here!
This semester we added two newbies to the LVC family. One is Lauren Bent, a transfer sophomore communications major from South Windsor, CT. Lauren has moved around all over Connecticut before she finally settled down in South Windsor. She went through a lot as a child, her parents got divorced when she was three, and they were both remarried by the time she was eight. She went to South Windsor High school, a relatively large school, where she was very
involved. At first she went to a smaller college (Roger Williams), where she thought there would be a close knit community. However, after visiting UConn, she knew it was the place for her. She loved the campus because it’s very active and there is always something to do.
Currently, Lauren lives in Hilltop Dorms in a quad with three other transfer students. She is starting to get more and more involved on campus. She is planning on going on an alternative spring break in March, and she wants to become apart of the tutoring program, America Reads. So far Lauren has really enjoyed her classes at UConn. Her favorite professor is Steven Stifano for her Communications 1000 class. She is also looking forward to taking Psychology 1103 with Professor Terhan Davis.
Lauren decided to be a Communications major because she of her previous roles in planning events at her high school. Ultimately, she wants to pursue a career in Public Relations (PR). She plans on getting her Bachelor’s degree in Communications Sciences. Like any good planner, Lauren has a Plan B - getting s Masters Degree in Education because she loves working with kids too. Her goals are to stay involved and get everything she can out of college. She also wants to study abroad for a semester in London. The main thing she wants to accomplish is to step outside of her comfort zone and experience as many new things as possible.
Lauren’s favorite quote – “Life is to short to be anything but happy.”
Hope you all enjoyed getting to know Lauren!
