Hi everyone, Keerthi here!
Recently, I was lucky enough to interview one of my fellow LVC colleagues, Kevin W.
Kevin has lived in Southington, CT since he was four years old. He is not the first person in his family to go to UConn; he has an older brother who is a Husky as well. Kevin’s brother was an inspiration to him, as he was active in sports. This along with his parents’ involvement caused Kevin be a very motivated person, because they always pushed him. Kevin feels that he is the person he is today because of his parents.
Kevin had already seen the UConn campus, because he visited his brother a couple of times in high school. Kevin could see how much his brother loved going to UConn, and how much there was to do on campus.
Kevin says the campus seemed overwhelming at first but he quickly became used to it. He got along with all the other students on his floor. He still lives with three of the boys from his freshman year floor in a house (just off campus). Kevin likes that he has his own room, and can experience what it will be like living in ‘the real worl’d before he graduates. He misses having a meal plan, but has enough friends to swipe him into the dining hall which he describes as an “off campus students dream”. However Kevin still fondly remembers his freshman year on Batterson 4th floor.
Kevin found his niche in Zeta Beta Tau fraternity where he quickly joined the executive board his freshman year. By his junior year he was elected to be the executive vice president. Kevin describes the Lodewick Visitors Center as “an awesome place to work” and has become good friends with many of his co- workers. Kevin describes his study abroad in Florence, Italy as the highlight of his college career. He was able to live in Italy for four months. Kevin also visited eight different countries and experienced all of their cultures.
Kevin’s favorite classes were business law with Professor Mark Deangelis and Consumer Behavior with Professor Kunter Gunasti. He decided to become a marketing major because he has a business mindset and enjoys working with people. He hopes to pursue a career in sales, where he can interact with people on a daily basis.
Kevin hopes to find a job after graduation. He also wants to enjoy his last semester and hang out with his friends as much as possible. His easy course load this semester makes this possible, as well as experiencing all of UConn before he graduates. Kevin is nervous to graduate but excited to start a new chapter in his life.
